As anyone who's been to Portugal will attest, their wines are amazingly good and quite unique. This is a rich, complex wine made from a blend of native grape varieties, and is a great example of their winemaking skill.

Tasting Notes : Quite weighty and smooth with dark berry fruit mingling with Christmas cake, cinnamon, dark chocolate and smokey oak notes.

Method of Production : The fruit was destemmed then pressed into stainless steel tanks. An automatic pump-over system in the tanks washed the floating grape skins with juice regularly. Pump-over and high temperature fermentation (28-30°C) took lots of colour, flavour and body from the fruit. The skins soaked in the wine for 30 days in total. Brief ageing in small Portuguese oak barrels imparted structure and cedar notes.

Great stuff

For the price, this is a really fantastic bottle. Slightly acidic, it tastes like a good Chianti that's been opened and then corked for a couple of days. Big, spicy, tangy fruit with low tannins and a lush finish. Genuinely good, interesting wine.

This bottle really reminds me of holidays in portugal, fruity, warm and well you know... Love to drink it with fish and chips on a hot summer night in Barnstaple!
