Palacio de Eza

Palacio de Eza is a new wine from Tandem and exclusive to Oddbins. They have revived this name from an ancient noble estate that once belonged to their grower partners, the Lizarraga family. The aforementioned family supplied the Merlot grapes on which this wine is based, whereas the Garnacha came from five or six small growers with 70 to 80 years old traditional bush vines.

Tasting Notes : Deep red cherry colour. The nose is noticeably spicy with aromas of violets and mint as well as cherry. On the palate it is round, fruity and smooth with more cherry flavours, plus plum and a redcurrant dimension too.

Producer : Tandem

Method of Production : The grapes were destemmed and then cold macerated briefly for 12 hours. Fermentation occurred over 12 days in stainless steel tanks with daily punching down of the cap. The wines were then racked to concrete-epoxy tanks where they went through malolactic conversion - no oak ageing was used in this wine. After the final cuvée was blended, it was gently filtered and bottled.
