Merlot has long been popular amongst red wine lovers for its gentle, approachable style and silky tannins. This example from Virginie shows Merlot at its most playful, with sweet red fruit flavours, yet enough guts to pair well with food.

Tasting Notes : Notes of earth and spice mix with red fruit-scents and a hint of blackcurrant. Fruity and round in the mouth with good structure and length.

Producer : Domaines Virginie

Method of Production : Machine picked at night, the grapes were crushed then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 20 days. Once pressed from the skins, the wine went through malolactic fermentation and was matured in new American oak barrels for 6 months. It was lightly fined and filtered before bottling.
