Murdoch James Martinborough Pinot Noir

This is a ravishing Kiwi Pinot Noir from what is, you must not forget amongst all the Central Otago mania, Pinot's original home in New Zealand - Martinborough at the southern tip of the North Island. Made using organically grown grapes, the resulting wine is very special indeed, reflecting the favourable terroir of the site and uncompromising dedication in both the vineyard and the winery.

Tasting Notes : A lighter style with less oak influence, which allows the fruit characters to show through. This is a soft, rich wine that displays plums and cherries on the nose and palate, with a very fine tannin structure.

Producer : Murdoch James Estate

Method of Production : The organically grown grapes were handpicked, destemmed and left to cold soak overnight. Fermentation took place over a twelve-day period in stainless steel temperature controlled tanks. The wine was then racked off its lees and aged briefly for six to twelve months in French oak barrels without a malolactic conversion. The wine was bottled without being fined or filtered.
