ABOUT THIS WINE: Rasteau is one of 18 villages in the Côte du Rhône singled out as superior sources of wine and entitled to label their wines with the village name. It used to be famous for its sweet wines, but is now an exciting, up-and-coming area for rich dry reds, rivalling better-known sites in the Rhône.This example was made from a blend of ripe Grenache grapes with a dash of Syrah and mourvèdre, harvested from 30-year-old vines. It was made by Pierre-Bertrand Perrin, whose family is one of the most highly respected in the Rhône and has been making wine there for 5 generations.
SERVING: Serve this wine at room temperature. It is an excellent partner for red meat casseroles, steaks, roast lamb or poultry, or try it with Mediterranean grills with plenty of herbs and garlic.
KEEPING: This wine is ready to drink now although it will keep well, stored on its side, for another 2 to 3 years, softening and mellowing during that time. Once opened, drink it up within 3 days and keep the resealed bottle in a cool, dark place.
Licensing Act 2003: It is an offence for any person under 18 years to buy or attempt to buy alcohol
