BRONZE MEDAL WINNER at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2008
''...a wonderfully individual blend...'' RECOMMENDED by Giles Kime, The Sunday Telegraph, July 2008.
This unusual white wine has a glorious spectrum of aromas and flavours - apricot, papaya and peach, fennel, spice and wild herbs. It combines a rich texture on the palate, with a fresh and very long mineral finish
"Unusual and delicious." RECOMMENDED by Victoria Moore, "Just Add Food" The Guardian, August 2008.
ABOUT THIS WINE: The grapes are grown on the Côte Vermielle, the steep wind-swept slopes between Collioure and the Spanish border, where the Pyrenees plunge into the Mediterranean. The wine is made from a selection of local grape varieties, including Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc. The vines are old (50 years or more on average) and the yields are low. The wine is 100% barrel fermented and bottled in the spring after the vintage.
PRESS RECOMMENDATIONS: ''...The area around Collioure, the exquisite the exquisite french port a few miles from the Spanish border, is well know for its rich, heady reads. Less trumpeted are its withes, which have an uplifting freshness, making them a great choice for hot summer days. This is one of them - a wonderfully individual blend of five different grapes that combine to create a satisfying wine with a beginning, a middle and end, and which is a perfect partner to simple fish dishes such as sardines, mackerel - or that main stay of Collioure's gastronomy, the anchovy...'' Recommended by Giles Kime, ''The best time at your table'' The Sunday Telegraph, July 2008
''...Collioure match the beauty of their scenery with richly flavoured dry whites like this crisp, dry grenache gris...'' Recommended by Anthony Rose, ''Something for the weekend'' The Independent, July 2008
The picturesque town of Collioure is an old artists haunt on the western edge of France's Mediterranean coast and this is a full flavoured, cumulonimbus textured, oaked blend. Unusual and delicious. Recommended by Victoria Moore in "Just Add Food", The Guardian, August 2008.
SERVING: Perfect sipped slowly as an aperitif or as an ideal partner to the meatier types of fish (hake, monkfish, scallops, lobster) and with pork or veal. It also goes well with all the milder cheeses.
KEEPING: This wine has been released ready to drink now but will keep well for up to one year, if stored somewhere cool and dark. Once opened, keep the bottle chilled and resealed, and finish within two days.
Licensing Act 2003: It is an offence for any person under 18 years to buy or attempt to buy alcohol
