Not only does Gérard Bertrand make wines from his own vineyards in the Languedoc he also crafts wines in partnership with coops. In this case he works closely with the four caves in the Roussillon village of Tautavel, to make this Grenache-led spicy fruit feast.

Tasting Notes : The nose is powerful and fruity with aromas of blackberries and redcurrants as well as hints of Chinese five spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied with more berry flavours plus cherry and plum.

Method of Production : The handpicked grapes from the Roussillon village of Tautavel were macerated (NB the Syrah & Grenache were destemmed and crushed first, whilst the Carignan was kept as whole berries and carbonically macerated) prior to being fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for a period of up to 12 days. The wines were then transferred to one year old French oak barriques for malolactic conversion and six months' ageing. Once blended the final cuvée was gently filtered and bottled.

A 'lil village beauty

This is a staff favorite right now in the Wardour St Branch in Soho. A warm and well-balanced red that is cracking for the price! Such a great example of new world drinkability meeting old world terroir.
