Lustau 'Los Arcos' Dry Amontillado

Traditional amontillado was dry and it is only in recent times that the style has been linked with a medium-sweet style. Lustau have made an excellent dry nutty wine that is perfect with a bit of fruit cake.

Tasting Notes : Light amber in colour, full-bodied with dry soft nutty flavours with a hint of wood and raisins and crisp acidity.

Method of Production : Made from pure Palomino which were fermented dry before the addition of grape spirit. Only the first pressings are used and these are then placed in the solera system. Flor, the layer of yeast that imparts flavour to the wine, then develops within the barrel but this later dies off. Thus you have both the flavours of the flor and natural oxidation that make a great amontillado.

Food Choice

Try as aperitif with nuts or with oriental food.
