Château de l'Engarran 'Cuvée Quetton Saint-Georges'

Product Code:

The is the flagship wine from Château de l'Engarran and uses the best fruit from the estate situated in the Coteaux du Languedoc cru of Saint Georges d'Orques. It has not had any extra oak added compared with its lowlier siblings (still just 50% barrel matured for a year and a half) like many producers do with their top wines, but instead they have let superior concentration and flavour of the majority Syrah fruit shine through..

Tasting Notes : The nose has aromas of spicy brambles and blackcurrants plus toasty vanilla with a trace of truffle. The palate has lovely velvety, mouth coating tannins, but stills packs a full-on blackcurrant and blueberry fruit punch.
Producer : Chateau de l'Engarran
Method of Production : Each variety and parcel was vinified separately. Once picked the grapes were destemmed, crushed and fermented in temperature-controlled vats (stainless steel and concrete) for a period of three to four weeks. Malolactic conversion was encouraged, and after the wines were racked from their lees they were aged for 18 months; half in new French oak barriques and half kept in tank. The wine was gently filtered before bottling.
