Hautes Côtes de Nuits 'Pré Royal' François Martenot

This straightforward Hautes Côtes has really come into its own with the hot and ripe 2003 vintage. Domaine Martenot has managed to add a softness in texture to the depth of red fruit flavours without using any oak.

Tasting Notes : Medium-bodied and fruity with a nose of redcurrants and crushed raspberries, and a palate of ripe cherries. Smooth and silky with few tannins.

Method of Production : Grapes, bought from two estates from vines between 20 and 25 years old, were destemmed, crushed and allowed to cold soak for four days. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats, for fifteen days with the temperature being slowly increased as the fermentation progressed. The wine was then racked off its lees and the two cuvées blended together before being returned to tank for it to mature of its fine lees. The wine was simply filtered before bottling.
