Katnook Founders Block Cabernet Sauvignon

My gosh, you don't half get a lot of bang for your buck here! This wine is made entirely from estate grown fruit i.e. it has the same lineage as Katnook's Estate Cabernet. Packed full of minty-cassisy Coonawarra class, this bottle is a great way to sample Australia's premier Cabernet Sauvignon producing region along with the pedigree of Katnook all for under a tenner - how do they do it? Simply magic!

Tasting Notes : The nose is elegant, attractive and typical of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit - red berries, violets and hints of mint are combined with mocha and coffee from oak maturation. The palate is medium-bodied and supple with generous fruit, well integrated oak and fine ground tannins on a long finish.

Producer : Katnook Estate

Method of Production : Grapes from Katnook's own estate were destemmed, the berries gently broken (not crushed) and cold soaked for a day before being transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation occurred at warm temperatures for 5 to 7 days. The wine was then aged for 18 months in predominantly American oak barriques, a quarter of which were new. The wine was gently filtered then bottled.
