d'Arenberg 'The Laughing Magpie' Shiraz Viognier

Apparently, the daughters of Chester Osborn have two pet kookaburra's known affectionately as 'the laughing magpies'. The family thought it would be a fitting name for a wine that is a combination of the black Shiraz grape and the white Viognier.

Tasting Notes : Shiraz provides ripe and intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry, with perfumed top-notes from the Viognier.

Producer : d'Arenberg

Method of Production : The two varieties were crushed and fermented together in traditional, headed-down open fermenters. Before it had reached dryness, the wine was removed from the skins via an ancient basket press. The still-fermenting wine was transferred into a mixture of French and American oak barrels for 12 months maturation. The Laughing Magpie was minimally filtered before bottling.

Possibly my all time favourite wine from D'Arenberg. Cote Rotie blend at half the price. Drink now or sit back and watch this beauty and the beast blend blossom.

Excellent!!!!!! Plenty of juicy fruit, which balances well with the floral nose which explodes from the viognier. A must buy for any wine lover, before it runs out!
