BRONZE MEDAL WINNER at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2008
A fine German Riesling, naturally light in alcohol, with delightful fruity flavours of apples and pears, a succulent hint of flintstone, and a crisp, refreshing finish
ABOUT THIS WINE: Ernst Loosen, who made this wine, is one of Germany's most celebrated producers, famous for his top quality Rieslings. This modern, premium Riesling comes from fruit hand picked from mature vines growing in the middle Mosel valley opposite the town of Erden. The weathered red slate soils produce grapes with a typically ripe, fruity quality and a balanced minerality. This wine is unoaked, so its pure fruit flavours really shine through. This wine has been sealed with a screw cap, our aim is to choose the most suitable closure for each wine.
PRESS RECOMMENDATIONS: ''...From Decanter's '2005 Man of the Year', this classy wine has an overt oily nose with a rich lime marmalade character. The intensity is replicated on the off-dry harmonius palate which is awash with floral and apricot flavours and brightened by super fresh acidity...'' Awarded 4 Stars by Decanter, April 2008
SERVING: Served lightly chilled, around 8°C, this makes the perfect aperitif. It is also a brilliant partner for simple white fish dishes, leafy salads and cold chicken or ham.
KEEPING: This wine is ready to drink now or will keep well for two years or more, mellowing and becoming more honeyed with age. Store it in a cool, dark place and once opened, finish within two days.
Licensing Act 2003: It is an offence for any person under 18 years to buy or attempt to buy alcohol
