A seriously interesting red that shows just what complexity the south of France can produce. This one is ripe, meaty and powerful, with flavours of tangy black olives, dense dark fruits, a touch of creamy oak and some fine, chewy tannin to get your teeth into

More Information

  • ABOUT THIS WINE: The village of Saint Christol lies between Montpellier and Nîmes, with the mighty Cevennes Mountains to the north and the Mediterranean to the south. History tells us it was established by the knights of the order of St. Jean back in the 12th century, and the Guinand family who produced this wine has itself been resident in St.Christol for over 200 years.

Brothers Claude, Serge, Alain and Pierre created the winery in 1993 and continue to run the show, using ancient traditional techniques to create wines of great personality and flair. In a move typical of such a philosophy, this blend of 60% syrah with 40% Carignan has been left unfiltered to allow the full force of its flavours to shine through.

A definite 'meat wine', try it with barbequed lamb cutlets marinated in garlic and rosemary.
