ABOUT THIS WINE: Made from Chenin Blanc, one of South Africa's most popular grape varieties, this wine has a really concentrated fruity flavour. It is from the Stellenbosch region in the Western Cape, an area which is sunny and warm, but cooled by ocean breezes channelled through the surrounding mountains. Low yielding vines produce intensely flavoured grapes and a proportion was oak aged to add extra complexity. This wine has been sealed with a screw cap. Our aim is to choose the most suitable closure for each wine.
PRESS RECOMMENDATION: "What you really notice are the lively, bright quince and tropical-fruit flavours that curve up to get you. There is a small amount of oak on this, but you barely spot it - it's the vivacity that marks it out. Would be lovely with all kinds of fish - perhaps something cooked en papillote with lime and lemon zest, served with plain rice." Recommended by Victoria Moore in The Guardian, 14 January 2008.
SERVING: It makes a mouth watering aperitif, or pair it with starters and light savoury dishes - Parma ham and melon, goat's cheese and salad, or fresh grilled trout would all make perfect partners for it. Ideal serving temperature 8°C.
KEEPING: This wine is ready to drink now and will be at its best while young. Enjoy it within 6 months of purchase. Once opened, keep it resealed in the fridge and finish within a couple of days.
Licensing Act 2003: It is an offence for any person under 18 years to buy or attempt to buy alcohol
