Michelin Jump Leads 16mm Michelin Jump Leads 16mm. If you are lucky enough to find a petrol station that sells jump-leads, you’ll normally find they’re pretty insubstantial with cables not much thicker than those liquorice laces that kids love. Quite frankly, they’re not up to the job, they don’t carry much current and if you use one on a big engine, they’ll start to melt! These cables from Michelin, which come in a durable tidy case, are the real deal, however, and are man enough to do the business. There are three different grades of lead. The ones you need will depend on the size of the engine. The 16mm cables are intended for petrol engines only, up to 2000cc. The 25mm cables are ideal for Petrol engines up to 3000cc and diesels up to 2000cc. The 35mm cables which are a metre longer at 4.5 metres are for petrol engines up to 7 litres and diesels up to 4 litres. When you’ve got a flat battery, you really don’t want to be defeated by a sub-standard set of jump-leads. You can’t go wrong with these. |
