These cartridges require the chip to be removed from your empty original cartridge and to be fitted on to the new compatible cartridge. Instructions on how to do this are included within the products or by clicking on this link.

Canon printers with cartridges that use a chip have been designed to detect non-genuine Canon products. As a result, the ink level will no longer be detected. It is important that you monitor the ink level of your new cartridge to ensure that it does not run completely dry.

Saga of the ink
As we said in other reviews for some reason the ink we had stoped working once it got half way down however one good point we found the design of the cartridge makes it ideal for re-filling without any spillage.

INK
It works seems as good as Canon. Only bad point the little chip has fell off a couple of times while printing. On the 5300 not a problem as it falls onto the paper output tray area so simple to pick up and re-place.
