What our customers say

I booked Hotel Niu via Alpharooms for a 3 night stay 8-11 July 2008. I booked a twin room although it was just for myself, thinking I would get a balcony at least. I have booked single rooms before with Alphrooms & not had a balcony so decided to book a twin room. When I got to the Niu I asked if I had a seaview & balcony as I had emailed them direct to ask for this. However, I was told they only had a standard twin room in the annexe. It did not have a sea view or a balcony. The view I could live without - it was the balcony to sit on in the evening as being a solo traveller did not want to sit in the bar all night on my own. I was quite upset at this - Alpha rooms must state in their hotel descriptions if the standard rooms have balcony/sea view or not. This would have made a big difference to where I chose to stay. Having said that the lady in reception whose name is Antonio couldn't do enough for me - she was going to phone Alpha rooms to see if they had aroom elsewhere with a balcony, but I wanted to stay in Cala st Vincent. Eventually I was told there was a sea view room with a balcony, but she did not want me to have it as it had recently had a leak in the room and the wall was still very slightly damp and they were using a de-humidifier to dry it out. I had a look and said I would take the room as it didn't feel damp at all - the only thing was that the wall was water stained because they hadn't been able to re-paint it because of the slight dampness. Anyway, the hotel was lovely, I give it 4 stars. I ate in the hotel restuarant at lunch and for my evening meal and if you reside in the hotel you get 10% off the evening meal bill. The food was plentiful and lovely. I was on B&B basis and the breakfast was a help yourself buffet - all you could eat - and again this was lovely. I think I have come back about 5lbs heavier. I should also add that Cala St Vincent itself is a lovely resort and even in July not too noisy & brash. It is not a resort for party animals. Would I come again? yes, but I would make sure I book direct with the hotel to make sure I got a sea view room & balcony.
